Are eyelash extensions safe, and will they damage my natural lashes?Eyelash extensions are safe when applied by a trained professional and, if cared for properly, won’t damage your natural lashes. At Sheer Lash and Beauty, we use professional-grade adhesive that never touches your skin, and each extension is applied 1mm away from your lash line for precise placement. Your natural lashes shed as part of their normal growth cycle, which isn’t affected by the extensions. Lashes go through three phases: Growth Phase (Anagen): Lasts 4-6 weeks, where lashes actively grow. Transition Phase (Catagen): Lasts 2-3 weeks, when growth stops. Resting Phase (Telogen): Lasts 100+ days before lashes naturally shed. I apply extensions to fully grown lashes, allowing smaller ones to develop naturally. With proper application and care, your lashes will stay healthy and beautiful! 💕

What precautions should I take if I’m new to eyelash extensions, and what happens if I have an allergic reaction? If you're new to eyelash extensions or have sensitive skin, we recommend a Patch Test at least 4 days before your first full set to check for any allergic reactions. In the rare case of a severe allergic reaction, please consult a medical professional. If a mild reaction occurs within 48 hours, we offer complimentary removal, but refunds are not available.
-
How often should I get lash extensions refilled, and what affects their longevity?Lash extensions typically last 2-4 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle. For optimal fullness, refills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to replace fallen lashes. Factors like humidity, steam, rubbing, sleeping on your face, or using oil-based makeup/removers can shorten their lifespan. To protect your lashes while sleeping, consider using a 3D sleeping mask, available for $15 (pick up only). It helps reduce friction, prevents lash breakage from face pressure on pillows, and keeps your extensions looking full longer!

What circumstances might lead a lash technician to deny my request for a service?A lash technician may refuse service if: Allergies or sensitivities to lash materials or adhesives are present. There’s an active eye infection or contagious eye condition. Natural lashes are weak or damaged. Previous adverse reactions to lash extensions occurred. There’s a history of improper aftercare or poor retention. Expectations are unrealistic for what lash extensions can achieve. Policies, such as late arrivals or missed appointments, aren’t followed. Disrespectful or abusive behavior, or safety concerns arise. Health and safety regulations would be violated. Medical conditions contraindicate lash extensions. Booking issues or repeated problems disrupt scheduling.

What are the different types of lash extensions offered and how do they differ?Classic Lash Extensions: A single extension applied to each natural lash for a subtle, natural look. Perfect for those with thick, strong lashes who want to enhance length and darkness without extra volume. Best For: A natural, understated look. Wet Classic Set: A special technique where Volume extensions are applied to mimic the appearance of Classic extensions, creating a freshly wet lash look. It creates a darker, more defined lash line with a sleek, glossy finish. Best For: A bolder, more defined lash line with a wet-lash effect, without extra volume. Hybrid Lash Extensions: A blend of Classic and Volume lashes (70% Classic, 30% Volume) for a fuller, denser appearance. Offers a great balance between a natural and dramatic effect. Best For: Clients who want more fullness without being too bold. Light Volume (YY) Extensions: Uses thinner lashes to create a soft, fluffy effect with light volume. Ideal for a fuller look that's still very natural and not too dramatic. Best For: A soft, natural volume that adds fullness without being heavy. Wispy Volume Extensions: A mix of shorter and longer extensions creates a textured, feathered effect, giving depth and softness with a natural volume. Best For: Clients who prefer a fluffy, textured look that’s not too heavy. Volume Lash Extensions: Multiple lightweight extensions (3-6 per natural lash) are applied for maximum fullness and drama. Perfect for those seeking a bold, glamorous look. Best For: A bold, dramatic lash look with full volume.

Which lash set is best for a natural look?If you want a subtle, everyday enhancement, these are the best options: Classic Lashes – One extension per natural lash for a soft, polished look. Light Brown Classic Lashes – A softer alternative for fair skin or lighter lashes. You are able to select the Light Brown option when booking your Classic Full Set! Wet Classic Lashes – A wispy, "wet mascara" effect with light texture. Light Volume (YY) Lashes – Slightly fuller than Classic, offering a lightweight, delicate volume.
-
What are the best options for added volume and texture? If you want more volume than Classic but still want a natural feel: Hybrid Full Set – A mix of Classic and Volume for soft texture and dimension. YY Lash Extensions – A lightweight, fuller alternative to Classic, ideal for fine lashes. If you prefer maximum fullness and bold lashes: Volume Full Set – Multiple lightweight extensions per lash for a dense, dramatic look.
-
What’s the difference between Wet Classic and Wispy Wet Sets? Both styles create a wispy, textured effect, but the level of volume varies: Wet Classic Set – Light volume with 2D-3D narrow fans for a refined, natural wispy look. Wispy Volume Set – Uses 4D-6D closed volume fans for a bold, fluttery, dramatic effect. Best for: Clients who love wispy, defined lashes—Wet Classic for a lighter effect, Wispy Volume for a bolder look.

How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions and how is it done? The process of applying lash extensions typically takes between 2-2.5 hours (120-150 minutes) for a full set and 1-1.5 hours (60-90 minutes) for a refill. You will relax on a massage table with your eyes closed, listening to soothing ambient music. Your lower lashes will be protected, and the extensions will be carefully applied to your upper lashes individually.
-
How should I prepare for my eyelash extension appointment? To ensure the best results, please follow these guidelines: Arrive on time, but no more than 10 minutes early. If I’m with another client, you may need to wait outside. Come makeup-free, especially around the eyes—avoid face oil, lotion, sunscreen, and mascara. These can interfere with the adhesive, reducing its effectiveness and longevity. Remove contact lenses before your appointment to avoid irritation from glue fumes and to ensure comfort during the procedure. Avoid caffeine—it can cause jitteriness, dry eyes, or twitching, making it harder to stay still during the application, which can affect the precision of your extensions. Arrive with straight, uncurled, unpermed lashes—curled or permed lashes can prevent the adhesive from bonding properly, affecting the final result. By following these simple steps, you’ll help ensure a smooth, efficient, and comfortable eyelash extension application! 😊
-
What happens if I book a Fill appointment and arrive with less than 40% of my lash extensions remaining from my previous appointment? If you arrive with less than 40% of your lash extensions remaining, you will be charged for a Full Set at the end of your appointment. This is a standard practice among all salons and technicians. The reason for this policy is that achieving a full, consistent look with fewer remaining extensions requires more materials and products.

How do I properly care for my eyelash extensions? To keep your eyelash extensions looking their best, follow these care tips: - Avoid water for the first 24-48 hours to allow the adhesive to fully set. - Cleanse your lashes daily using a lash extension-specific cleanser and a gentle cleansing brush to remove oil, dirt, and makeup 1. Removing eye/face makeup using oil-free removers 2. Wet your lashes with water and apply a small amount of lash shampoo to your lash cleansing brush 3. Brush/Wash your eyelids and lash line 4. Gently rinse with water and pat dry the lashes with a lint-free towel 5. Use a clean mascara wand to brush your lashes once they are fully dry - Avoid steam, heat, and high-pressure water (e.g., saunas or hot showers) as they can damage the extensions. - Never curl or perm your lash extensions. - Avoid oil-based products (like cleansers, makeup removers, or moisturizers) as they can break down the adhesive. - Steer clear of mascara and eyeliner—especially waterproof formulas, which can make cleaning difficult. - Use a clean mascara wand to gently brush your lashes daily to maintain their shape. - Be gentle—avoid aggressive rubbing or cleaning, as this can cause extensions to fall out prematurely. Bonus Tip: If your lashes look messy in the morning, rinse them with water and gently brush them with a clean mascara wand from underneath. By following these simple steps, you'll help extend the life of your extensions and keep them looking beautiful! 😊
-
Can I wear mascara or go swimming with eyelash extensions? You can swim, shower, and exercise after the first 48 hours, as the adhesive will be set. However, avoid prolonged exposure to steam (e.g., saunas or facials), as it may weaken the bond. We recommend avoiding mascara on your extensions, as they are designed to enhance the fullness of your natural lashes, and mascara can shorten their lifespan.
-
What happens if I choose to have my eyelash extensions removed? We provide a service for removing extensions through a quick thirty-minute appointment. During this appointment, we use a gel remover that is applied on top of the extensions without touching the skin. The gel remover is left to sit for 10-15 minutes, allowing it to dissolve the adhesive. Afterward, the extensions are gently wiped away using lint-free applicators, revealing the natural lashes. If you would like to take a break from your eyelash extensions, please book a Lash Removal.
